Presented by the SEAOCC Continuing Education Committee:

Cast-in-Place Concrete Slab Collectors

Designing collectors in concrete floor slabs can appear relatively straightforward. However, there are subtle complexities in the calculation of collector forces, and the application of these forces to collector design. This presentation will review some of potential pitfalls in collector design, including prescriptive code-level forces and nonlinear response history analysis. Proper collector design can help ensure that the building response meets the design intent, and can also help in the plan check/peer review process.
